Junk & Foibles is back in the saddle

...the saddle of a certain Big Pony, amirite?

It’s hard to believe it’s been six years since Halifax’s original vintage clothing boutique Junk & Foibles closed its Barrington Street storefront. It still stings a little, doesn’t it? Big Pony (1453 Brenton Street) feels your pain, which is why starting August 16 it presents one month of pop-up shopping with Junk & Foibles, which has continued collecting all these years.

“I work with a person who, like me, has a great appreciation for beautiful things and the two of us have sort of hoarded things since my store closed,” says Sarah Dunsworth of what she and Beth Briffett have in store. “We both work as costume designers, and both have private collections that we're trying to pair down because our basements are only so big.” Dunsworth’s mother Elizabeth—who was the store’s original owner, and “has an eye for the exquisite”—will also be adding some of her personal collection to the mix of preloved men’s and women’s clothing, which will be high-end, beautifully-made and above all, wearable.

To kick off the return of Junk & Foiblies, stop by the Pop-Up Preview Party this Friday, August 15, from 7-10pm for cupcakes and bubbly with your shopping. “We're going to do the pop up and see what happens,” says Dunsworth. “The future is exciting and open.”
