One of Gottingen’s brightest spots, the multi-coloured Cocoon Bout-ique (2179 Gottingen Street) is saying so long to the neighbourhood.

After almost a year in business, and in the north end, Amy Donovan’s shop of alternative fashion, pin-up styles and roller derby wear—for a wide variety of sizes, extra-small to 4x—is making the move to Vintage Row, taking over a spot above Put Me On Consignment (1526 Queen Street, in the former Attic Vintage & Vinyl).

“I love the north end and am going to miss my shop and the community but unfortunately it’s just one headache after another,” says Donovan. After multiple floods, permit problems and landlord woes she made the choice to bring her business downtown. Cocoon will re-open on Queen on September 20, after taking part in Gottingen 250 festivities this weekend.

“I put so much work into the space, and I’ll miss it,” she says. “But I think this is a really positive more for me.”
