Feist Saturday January 14 at The Marquee Club Only Feist could throw together an all-white/transparent ensemble, accessorize with a skinny spotted tie and turquoise pearl stud earrings and be a knockout beauty. Beyond her aesthetic elegance, she seduced listeners with “Secret Heart,” “Gatekeeper” (dubbed “Spaceheater” on the set list), “Inside and Out” and “Mushaboom” (“Sha-boom!”). Feist roamed the stage with masterful rock star stature during “When I Was A Young Girl” (“Ygrrl”) evoking the spirit of the “young lady all wrapped in white linen.” Other highlights included an onstage invite to waltz, as two couples dipped and twirled to “Let it Die.” She teased us with some new material —“Sea Lion Woman,” “Honey” and “Sally.” Sadly, Feist’s flirtation ended 45 minutes too soon. Jenn Grant and Shotgun & Jaybird (featuring Julie Doiron on bass) could’ve added a few more tunes to their sets; complaints hardly justifiable considering Sunday’s show. Despite her Amherst roots Feist may never commit herself to Nova Scotia, yet she was sweet enough to give us more than a one-night stand.
