February 15, tickets go on sale for the Halifax International Writers Festival, running from April 1-5. The festival mixes local, Canadian and international poetry, fiction and non-fiction. Watch for Nova Scotian talents such as Budge Wilson (Before Green Gables), Beatrice MacNeil (Butterflies Dance in the Dark), Carol Bruneau (Glass Voices), Anne Simpson (Small Bones of Time), Douglas Arthur Brown (Quintet), Nalo Hopkinson (The New Moon’s Arms), John Brady (The Minogue Stories), Brad Smith (Busted Flush), Mary Swan (The Deep: And Other Stories), Frances Itani (Deafening), Irene Gammel (Looking for Anne: How L.M. Montgomery Dreamed up a Literary Classic), David McGimpsey (Sitcom) and Ray Robertson (What Happened Later). There could be an incredible match-up between prolific travel writer Pico Iyer and documentarian-turned-Giller-winner Elizabeth Hay. For ticket info go to halifaxwritersfest.com.
