If y'all are looking for a way to spend your time and money this weekend (and you're finally all Batmanned out), the Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council's 32nd annual Summer Craft Market is definitely worth a looksee. Pop on by the parking lot at the corner of Spring Garden and Queen this July 25-27 (10am-8pm Friday; 10am-6pm Saturday and Sunday) and show the market some respect. After all, 32 years is a long time to be around. (All the President's Men hit theatres 32 years ago. Hoffman still looked young!)
Plus, the festival's all about promoting hand-crafted art (especially Nova Scotia- and Maritime-made pieces). Among this years' crafters selling their wares: Haligonian fine-art photographer Anne Bastedo (a whiz at capturing bright, sassy colours), nifty Halifax-based glass-artisan Katrina Fleming (of Point of View Glass, at Pavilion 22, 1031 Marginal Road), and New Brunswick potter Suzanne Babineau of La P'tite Poterie (her website says she likes to "make pottery that is created for the eyes, the hands and the soul." That just sounds nice).
