Funny, how with all this talk about federal arts cuts and municipal election bidness, it's easy to forget the province's role in arts and culture. (Anyone catch Bill Dook's speech at the film fest gala? Just sayin'.) Well, tonight, for the first time, the Nova Scotia Arts and Culture Partnership Council is doing a town hall meeting here in Halifax, where most of the arts workers live.
I have yet to attend a session like this that has led to any concrete results, at any level of government, but apparently I'm into self-inflicted pain. And the AFF is over. I've heard there's really no agenda for tonight (other than a spring election), which could lead to a giant clusterfuck of complaints. Hopefully they hired someone with a strong stomach and healthy lungs to moderate. So if you're into a “Conversation on Culture", see you there, 7pm, in Room 401 of the Dalhousie Arts Centre.
