MacGillivray nabs three nods at the Folkies


Congrats to the local nominees for the Canadian Folk Awards, which were announced today. Nova Scotia fiddler Troy MacGillivray is one of the pack leaders with three (Traditional Album and Instrumental Group of the Year, with Shane Cook, for Where Here Meets There; as well as his own effort Live at The Music Room for Solo Instrumental). Also grabbing nods are Sons of Maxwell's Dave Carroll in the Contemporary Singer category for his solo debut Perfect Blue and Celtic whippersnappers Drumlin and Chrissy Crowley for Young Performer of the Year.

The Canadian Folk Awards will be handed out in St. John's on November 23.
