Boxing Day bonanza

What do you do on Boxing Day? Sit on your kiester, arrange your Pogs in order of importance, watch To Russia With Love, snack on a Terry’s Chocolate Orange. All of that can take a backseat to this fine event. All cover bands, all night at Gus’ Pub on December 26 (10pm, $5). North of America as the Angry Samoans, Play Guitar as Talking Heads, ECT as Le Tigre and Windom Earle as ABBA. Stephan MacLeod of Windom Earle elaborates, “We went with ABBA for two reasons: Everybody, no matter how punk, hip hop, or indie they claim to be has a soft spot somewhere deep inside them for ABBA. Although nobody can sing as well as Benny, Björn, Anni-Frid, and Agnetha, at least there's no way we'll be as bad as Pierce Brosnan in Mamma Mia.“ I am so ready to fight my way up on the stage with fists and attitude to force my stellar rendition of “Chiquitita” on the crowd. “We'll be sticking to ABBA Gold for our set list, but there are some deep cuts we might explore if we can pull it together. We'll be using cheap keyboards and a Nintendo DS to interpret the songs,” says MacLeod. “'Super Trooper' should be a Christmas carol, if it isn't already.”
