The Ottoman Lounge: Oh, the coloursssss

Some of you may remember when CBC Radio 3 sought out Canada's best record store last year with their nationwide Searchlight poll. For their second fact-finding mission, they plan to identify Canada's best live music club. CBC Radio 3 asks: "Will it be the legendary Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver or the venerable Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto? Maybe it's the Royal Albert Arms in Winnipeg or Broken City in Calgary? The Marquee in Halifax, Amigo's in Saskatoon or Jane Bond in Waterloo?" Let's hope it's not the Marquee in Halifax, right, gang? The nominations opened Wednesday, January 21 and the long list is now online. Feel free to cast your vote at Voters will be allowed one vote per day. Keep an eye out for the winner on the site, the final winner will be announced on Wednesday, February 25. The winning club will win a live concert presented by CBC Radio 3, a Sirius satellite radio with subscription, CBC Radio 3 clothes for the owners and staff (coveted R3 scarves included), a winning plaque and trophy. My vote goes to the Ottoman Lounge in Medicine Hat on the basis of their wonderful stage alone, or possibly The Ship Inn in Newfoundland for letting me and my gang stay late and party in the kitchen for hours.
