Multidisciplinary design firm Breakhouse Inc., the innovators who brought the popular Pecha Kucha nights to Halifax, together with Envision Halifax, is hosting 4 Days Thinking Forward Halifax, from October 21-24, "an open 'unconference' of community conversations on the power of design to reshape economies, improve public services and enhance our quality of life." All activities take place at The Hub and Carbonstok.
The headliner is John Thackara, a prominent international design critic and thinker, who will be giving a talk and a a visioning address, and also moderating a night of sustainable product pitching. Best of all: his "Balcony Address" from the soon-to-be demoed building at the corner of Morris and Hollis on October 24. Rounding out the four days will be an all-star version of Pecha Kucha, and Halifax's first TEDx talk, on October 22, which will precede a much-larger event to be scheduled in early 2010.
