The Clash’s London Calling enjoys it’s 30th anniversary on December 14, and while that means we can no longer trust it, we can also enjoy a tribute show to the album at the Paragon on Wednesday, December 16.

“I've been thinking about doing this show for the last five years,” says Paul Vienneau. “When I saw the 30th anniversary was coming up I was very motivated to make it happen. I called a friend from high school, Brad Conrad, and he suggested Garrett Mason, which led to Damien Moynihan.” The band (called Revolution Rock) plan on covering songs from the entire Clash catalogue, with a specific focus on London Calling. Vienneau says it was nostalgia that prompted the tribute show. “When I was 13 and 14 (in 1982-83) I started going to downtown Halifax from Cole Harbour. London Calling was a part of my teenage soundtrack when my friends and I would hang out at Backstreets on Barrington or go the Dal SUB for shows,” Vienneau says. “I wanted to do this gig because the things that the Clash and punks were fighting against—-racism, war, class bullshit, rights, crap economy—-are still going on. Lady Gaga, Kanye West, corporate rock, prepackaged pop groups, they don't reflect anything based in reality or address any issues.”
