Our own Tongan Death Grip have some pretty boss news! Germany's P-Trash Records will be doing a TDG full length that should be ready late spring/early summer. So get your fill of their angelic faces before they inevitably pack their bags and tour Europe forever.
See them January 22 at Club 1668 with Pastoralia, Cold Warps and Darby Hall (10:30pm). DO IT.
I would slaughter a litter of endangered puppies to hear this no doubt amazing album. But if forced, I can wait until spring. “We have recorded and basically fully mixed the B side and we'll be recording the A side on January 22. It's kind of neat because although the whole record is being recorded by James (O’Toole), the A side and the B side will be recorded in different environments using different amps and drums,” says Craig Hamlin (guitar, vocals). “I'm kind of stoked to have a record that has two distinct sounds per side.”
“I'm excited for the record, it will have a bunch of songs that we have been playing since our first shows and also a bunch of new stuff,” says Hamlin.
I asked Tongan Death Grip a few silly questions, here are the frank and shocking replies:
Scene and Heard: What are you up to right now?
Tongan Death Grip's Craig Hamlin: In general getting songs together for Tongan Death Grip 12" LP. Right now drinking a Kronenbourg 1664 and listening to The Mean Jeans.
S&H: What has been your best band memory so far?
TDG: At the end of the day I'll always treasure every time I was naked on stage.
S&H: What has been your worst band memory so far?
Tongan Death Grip: I can't think of one, I'm so awesome that every time I play I have so much fun and I'm probably naked too, it's great to be me!
S&H: What is the meaning of life?
Tongan Death Grip: Life is a series of tests and if you pass them you get to go to heaven. I know this because my dog is in heaven and he is waiting for me. Sometimes I miss my dog.
S&H: What is the best piece of advice you ever received?
Tongan Death Grip: "Don't take anything seriously, try to make people laugh all the time, if you do this people will want to be your friend and maybe you'll find the love that your father and I couldn't provide."
