The Halifax Jazz Festival turns 25 years old this year, forgoing a quarter-life crisis and instead leaping feet first into awesomeness. It’s their silver anniversary, and they have programmed some shows that promise to be well worth your hard-earned silver.

At today’s media launch, festival organizers presented this year’s fest, announcing the full line-up (including acts like The Bad Plus, Keren Ann, LA-33 and a special show for Jerry Granelli’s 70th birthday).

The Festival Parade will be revived, and there are new stages, as this year’s fest will take place on the Salter block of the Halifax waterfront. The Whirligig stage (the helipad by Bishop’s Landing) fulfills your burning desire to make helicopter noises, and Theodore Tugboat himself will host children’s musical programming (uh... on him, I guess).

The Creative Music workshop sounds like challenging fun, “At the CMW you have the chance to study with top musicians and educators from across North America. Where you've come from doesn't matter to them, it's where you're headed.”
