First of all, big congrats to Noah Pink for winning the very first ever Prism Prize for best music video in Canada for Rich Aucoin's "Brian Wilson is A.L.i.V.E." The prize was awarded March 24 for the video, produced in Halifax by production company Shut & Colour Pictures and directed by Pink. The prize carries a cash award of $5,000 to be shared by the artist, the director and the production team.
You watch now, yes?
I can barely put into words the awesomeness of Lindsay Dobbin—and my entire job is basically putting awesomeness into words. Her latest, from her musical project Broken Deer, is Polaraura, described as "a sonic journey of spiritual longing in a beautiful but undiscerning landscape." Featuring field recordings taken from Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, where Dobbin lived in an off-grid cabin during the winter of 2010 while she made the album—completely on analogue tape recorders. Can you hear the "frozen rivers, wolves, snow, wind, forest spirits, owls, and even northern lights"? Cause they're in there.
This video, for "My Heart's in the Highlands" was made by the equally awesome Heather Rappard.
The Wayo wrote, performed and produced this mouthy number, "Walkin", reminding me that I really need to work on a statement lip for spring.
And we will end this video-rific post with a teaser for Nicole Ariana's upcoming video for "Everytime," featuring Weirdo Click's Alex Bueller. Smooth tunes and rad makeup alert!
