"Anti-Vaxxer" is a hate term

Posted By on Mon, Apr 1, 2019 at 5:23 PM

Instead of cheering on people to mindlessly hate a group of others branded with this term by their enemies, just encourage everyone to type "drs questioning vaccines" into a search engine and see what comes up. There is no cheering section idiocy needed when complex questions and serious injuries are happening.

Okay, people: READ THE FUCKING SIGNS. "Door is locked, please use buzzer" does not translate to "pull hard on the door until you break it." End of rant.

You STINK, Halifax

Posted By on Mon, Apr 1, 2019 at 5:18 PM

You had a grip on the cigarette smoke. Now, we can't walk downtown without inhaling weed every breath we take. Your people are the opposite of cool, here. Open up some MJ Cafes as designated spots instead.

HFX Transit: Fuck the environment, I don't know how to do my job

Posted By on Mon, Mar 25, 2019 at 6:02 PM

With all this talk of carbon pricing and people offering public transit as a way to fight climate change: Apparently not our flakey HFX transit! A big bold lie from the www.halifax.ca website is: The Departures Line provides real time bus departure information. I guess they don't understand 'real time'. I have never heard it tell me that a bus is late, it mostly the 'scheduled' time. Last fall, the buses were taken off the streets at 4pm on a friday because of stormy weather. Yet the Departures Line was still lying to me with the regular scheduled times. What is wrong with Halifax Transit? The mayor was recently begging the PM for more money for Halifax's transit. But what did they do with the millions that were given them for the real time system? Did they spend it on tires? If the drivers followed the computer system on the bus, they wouldn't be early for a stop! There's no reason to be early. If HFX transit knew how to use the software, the number 81 would never be right behind the number 80, like it always is. It's pretty simple for a computer: The 80 and 81 run every 30 minutes. So logically, the buses would be 15 minutes apart! Especially on Sunday schedule, where you have buses that run on an hourly program. Up in Clayton Park, the two main hourly buses would pass every 30 minutes.
In practice, it's not even close. Sometimes, they arrive a minute after the other. If there's no way to track how many people take the buses, using a counter on each bus, then how can they measure the miserable job they're doing? I guess without a counter, they can feign ignorance. It's time to write to the people that can make a difference: The government official in the environment depts. Would Margaret Miller understand the situation? Let's tell the PM that the carbon pricing is pointless in NS, because no matter what we do to protect the environment, HFX Transit is fucking up our efforts.

Glad to see this rag still has some of the old farts that have nothing better to do than tear into someone, or somehing they have no idea about. Well, people—if I can call you that—you are screwed and fucked, just like some of the shit you bitch about.

Untitled bitch

Posted By on Mon, Mar 25, 2019 at 3:40 PM

I sat at a certain crappy hospital for seven and a half hours while bleeding through my pants. I was having a miscarriage, and after seven and a half hours of not seeing a doctor and being told I was next, I left to go get some rest.

I found out the next day.

A Big fuck you to everyone working at that hospital that night—except the nurse that brought me orange juice.

Where are all the goths?

Posted By on Tue, Mar 19, 2019 at 11:36 AM

Where the hell is Halifax's goth scene? All I want is a place where I can go on a Friday night and dance like Morticia Addams. So far, all that I've been able to find is the occasional kink night or halloween parties. What about us that are spooky all year round? One goth club is all that I ask.

Fuck "The Actual Artist"

Posted By on Mon, Mar 18, 2019 at 6:25 PM

There are a lot of reasons why you can go fuck yourself. Let's start off with the obvious one; why would you leave some obnoxious comment in a newspaper rather than asking the editor yourself why the cover allegedly resembled your art? Not very professional, in fact, it's extremely childish. But you only get worse from there. Shit hole town? Halifax isn't a perfect city, but it isn't a fucking shit hole. And if it was, it would be because of fuckers like you who think they're above others. There are MANY artists in this town, who paint a lot more than boats and lighthouses and I am sure, without a doubt, that they are all more skilled and more deserving of praise than your pathetic self. Learn how to be a professional, or no one will take you or your art seriously. And move the fuck away from my town.

I can’t afford to live here

Posted By on Mon, Mar 18, 2019 at 6:23 PM

I have lived in Halifax for almost 10 years now, and every year, housing becomes less affordable, food costs rise, and I descend further below the poverty line. I realize inflation isn’t a Halifax-based phenomenon, but everything is expensive here, and often overpriced for the quality. I have a professional job, a good education, and I can’t afford to live here anymore. I know it’s not the city’s fault, but the prices of things are out of control.

We're just trying' to watch a movie, here

Posted By on Mon, Mar 18, 2019 at 6:16 PM

To the ignorant and thoughtless group that sat behind my partner and I at Captain Marvel at the Dartmouth Crossing theatre: Thank you for your best efforts to ruin movie night for us. Between your kids kicking our seats, your singing along to the songs and ALL of you talking throughout the show, it took away from our enjoyment of the movie. Luckily, the movie itself was AWESOME! Yes, you paid to watch the movie, but so did we. So STFU and WATCH THE MOVIE! If you can't be considerate of the other people around you, STAY HOME and watch it on Netflix, ffs.

Gloved, masked, gowned, and contagious

Posted By on Tue, Mar 12, 2019 at 1:02 PM

Just so you all know, health care employees do not get enough sick days. Yeah, I know there are lots of people who get none at all (which royally sucks, and this should be changed immediately... different Bitch). However, I'm around germy people with questionable hygiene practices EVERY DAMN DAY, and even with thorough practice of universal precautions, those germs sometimes take my immune system hostage. So I'm sick as a dog, out of sick days, and dragging my sorry ass to work to wipe up other people's snot (and other body fluids), wearing a mask and gloves, and dousing myself in sanitizer at every opportunity to keep my germs from spreading. I should be in bed, but contrary to popular belief, not all health care workers earn the big bucks, affording them the luxury of staying home without pay. I sincerely hope your immunocompromised granny doesn't catch what I've got, but my employer expects me here since I've already used up my allowance of sick days.

Office bullies

Posted By on Tue, Mar 12, 2019 at 12:52 PM

It does not go unnoticed that you reward all the other employees for their work except for me. It does not go unnoticed that you schedule me in so that I can't attend meetings. Your tone of voice does not go unnoticed either. It appears you are jealous which is unfortunate because I don't have to work. I just wanted to make some friends but I will pass. And remember something: When I quit, you are going to have to serve me—and then I rate your performance.

Can we talk ...

Posted By on Tue, Mar 12, 2019 at 12:48 PM

...about overpopulation? Why is this topic taboo? This is at the root of all environmental problems—and why migrants have nowhere left to go. The earth does not need 8 billion homo sapiens. Read The Limits to Growth (1968), a bestseller, and start a conversation with someone about overpopulation.

Shitty sidewalks

Posted By on Tue, Mar 12, 2019 at 12:46 PM

So a local paper asks: "Why are we still discussing lousy sidewalk removal?" The simple answer is, for as long as Car is King and non-drivers (taxpayers or not) remain second-class citizens, sidewalks will stay an icy, un-walkable mess. When will Bobcatters realise that plowing sidewalks into skating rinks, without also salting them, is worse than not plowing them at all? And FFS, stop dumping craploads of snow and slush on street corners! Rise up, peds, and demand better from your local councillor!
