I played many, many hours of ball hockey on the streets as a kid. There were games on every second street. Don't remember a single injury related to traffic. Nobody complained about us. Drivers would slow down and we would get out of the way. The problem nowadays is that many drivers feel a sense of entitlement to zip around and get to their destination as fast as possible. The slightest inconvenience or slow down sends them into apoplectic spasms. The only thing that brings them relief is to lean on their horn to express their extreme indignation as being delayed a few seconds. And for what? To get somewhere a few seconds sooner so they can stare at their phone longer? So, leave sooner, take your time, drive defensively, be civil to other drivers, and watch out for pedestrians and kids riding bikes and playing hockey on those quiet residential streets.

^^^ I saw a guy with long hair set his hair on fire once. He leaned forward to get a light for his cigarette and lost the right side of his mop. He kept it short after that.

Anti-vaxers are part of a larger class of science-deniers. Science deniers put great faith in conspiracy theories, take the word of fake experts and celebrities over real experts, and ignore peer reviewed and replicated research in favour of isolated and unverified "studies" that they share with each other to affirm their false world view. I find it sad that despite mandatory education we have so many people lacking in basic reasoning, logic and scientific competence.

According to demographers the world's population will peak by 2040 or so and then start to decline. The main reason is decreasing birth rates due to urbanization. On the farm children are cheap labour and an asset, in the city they are an expense. The replacement rate in most western countries is around 2.1 births per female but, in Canada for example, the birth rate is around 1.5 per female. What this means for Canada, and other industrialized countries, is that without immigration the population would be in decline and aging rapidly.

^^ Haha! Yes, clothing cults are weird....although, I have to admit I've never tried on a pair of "Blunnies".....and maybe they are more comfortable than they look... so, hmmm, maybe I should at least try a pair on ... :-)

Broke up over Facebook! Is that the new norm - text message breakups? Why not a face to face in a coffee shop or at least a phone call to provide a little closure to the person being dumped? It all sounds a bit cold-hearted.
