    Re: “Racist pride night
I'm sorry this happened to your friend OP :( I get it from time to time (I'm a female Canadian convert to Islam)- tell your friends to chin up and try to stay positive :)

I like to think that people here are open minded- but there are the few who show their true colors when given the chance. Can't judge a whole city by a few bad apples (or a whole country/religion/race etc), but you're right- it does influence how others perceive us as a whole.

Tell your friends there are plenty of nice and accepting people here, and to keep smiling :)

    Re: “Manipulative Bitch
This happened to me except I'm not sure if it was a mutual 'I dont want to see you anymore'.

We went on a few dates, did it (they waited a week to contact me after...) then asked to see me again. I said I was busy, they said they were going away for a week. End of story- haven't heard from them since.

I really, really can't believe I'm reading this. Not the post- I think the post is great.
    But these comments…
Are there really people out there that think like this? Please tell me for some odd reason, you're just doing this online to cause a stir... because if you’re actually this ignorant/stupid in your everyday life, I feel sorry for you.
This isn't attractive, or funny. Yes, this is Canada. Yes, our New Years is Jan 1 (thanks for reminding everyone ...?)
But we celebrate diversity. That's what makes Canada great. That's why Halifax is great.

People who leave comments like this need to get their heads out their ass.

It would be really nice to see some different exhibits- I love this museum, but a little change would be good

A friend and I visited the Red Fox one evening for a quick bite- it's convinient location makes it an easy pick.

To say the least, we were both severly disapointed.

The venue screams legion and grease- sometimes you want that atmosphere. But even food that is expected to not be great was disastorious.

I had ordered a salad, sans bacon bits. Easy enough. My friend ordered some hot burger or sandwhich that came with fries. Normal Pub Fare, right? Not hard to make, taking minimal effort and time.

After a considerably short wait (there were only a few other people seated), our drinks and food arrived. To start, my salad was drenched in dressing and covered with the crusty bacon bits I had specifically asked to be left off. I imediatly sent it back.

After our waitress left with my salad, my friend discovered their food was cold. Already slathering ketchup on their fries, we waited patiently for the waitress to come back.

Annoyed with another request to redo the food, my waitress plunked my salad down in front of me and took my friends plate. -- My salad looked like it was shook out; all the toppings had fallen to the bottem, and though there was much less bacon, it STILL wasnt what I ordered.

She returned in record speed with my friends meal- the plate pipping hot, bun super soggy and the ketchup that my friend slathered on the McCaines fries had been baked on to the now mushy fries-- They had simply 'nuked the whole meal for way too long. She refused to take our meals back the second time, and after picking at the mess for a short bit we left paying the full bill - they didnt even offer to comp. any of it.

Even for a greasy pub, this place SUCKED. It's obvious that the food here is meant for people used to eating straight out of cans and people who's sense of smell and taste has been destroyed from 40+ years of chain-smoking.
