Really I think its just ridiculous to be upset about someone saying thank you to someone else. Yes, it's the bus driver's job to drive you around, and yes we're paying for it, but I say thank you to cab drivers, to cashiers when they hand me my receipt, etc. because I know from working somewhat shitty jobs, and even better jobs that it just makes you feel a little better about your day to hear that someone appreciates it.
I don't say it all the time, or if I don't feel that someone deserves it, and I'm not saying it for any sort of personal gain or to make myself look more polite, but I feel like if someone wants to express gratitude to someone else then who are you to say they shouldn't?
As for the back door thing...you're really not supposed to go out the front door when you're getting off the bus...it says so right on the little signs.
Please stop assuming you know people and what they're all about. I mean, complaining about people being nice? Really? Just go live in the woods by yourself if it offends you so much!
