Atlantica is very pleased to have a electoral platform which covers the pressing issues for Nova Scotians Lack of prosperity and lack of democracy.
The 6 4 2 Atlantica Plan
Economic 6
1. Conduct an open, comprehensive review of the provincial government to reduce spending to 2008 levels,
there has been no population growth since then.
2. With that surplus reduce provincial income taxes to the lowest in Canada.
3. Bring back the Balanced Budget Act to maintain balanced budgets.
4. Grow government spending at the rate of population growth as part of a 10 year plan to reduce and
eventually eliminate the debt, further lower taxes, costs and fees - to put Nova Scotia on the road to
being a ‘have’ province.
5. Empower the private sector by eliminating all provincial corporate income taxes.
6. Empower the private sector with a Red Tape Reduction and Deregulation Office. Start by getting
government out of the liquor business.
Democracy 4
1. Institute Recall.
2. Allow direct election of the Premier.
3. Electoral reform to make elections fair.
4. Increase political transparency including publicly recording votes in the House.
Regional 2
1. Join the New West Partnership. This would include a co-operation agreement on international trade,
investment, and combined buying power through the joint procurement and delivery of goods and
services.
2. Initiate an Atlantic Canadian Free Market to create one large regional market that removes the barriers to
trade, investment and labour mobility and encourages regional competition between companies including
power companies.
