Sadly I am also one of those statistics, I willingly moved from N.S. seeking better opportunities in Ontario. Not only did I find them but I also started my own family with 2 kids now and I have gotten my college degree here. I have only been here for 4 years but I can say positively I never would have had this kind of success in small town Amherst, N.S. Nova Scotia will always be my home, I love the land and the natural beauty it just lacks opportunity. I would give anything to be able to support my family and move my new husband and children there for good but we would never find jobs or housing opportunities to make it worth the move. It's sad to think my children have never even seen the beauty of the ocean that I grew up with but for now I know I am doing what is best. I hope this article gets people thinking, I hope this can start a change that so desperately needs to happen so that one day soon and can bring my family to develop the love for the eastern provinces that I have. You are right on so many point and other that are commenting are hitting the nail on the head with their suggestions as well, so if we recognize the difficulties of living here and realize that we need a solution what is wrong with the people responsible for making these changes happen! I will share this through social media and hope it catches attention and spreads like wild fire ! Good luck David Fleming this is a great topic and well written article!
