"They were posted on Saturday, December 6—the 25th anniversary of the Montreal Massacre where 14 female École Polytechnique students were murdered."

You know what else happened on Dec 6th in history? The Halifax explosion. These explosive facts coming to light on that date means that it is OK to link that tragedy to this event? I guess we can now blame dental students for the Halifax explosion.

The only crime I see here is defamation of character. Hatefuck does not mean rape. A simple Google search will clearly show that. The only danger to the public is that they are being mislead by the media.

I am ashamed of the judgemental attitudes on display before any real process has been implemented. I guess its hard to see clearly with the blinders on.

Drawing a comparison between this and the Polytechnique massacre is disgusting. It cheapens the deaths of those murdered by comparing that event to humour done in poor taste. The Coast just victimized the families of the survivors again with this trash.

Considering that most people post on Facebook daily, or more even more often, chances are you will be posting something that coincides with some anniversary. I think we should all stop frothing at the mouth for 2 seconds and put things into perspective.

You would think there would be a bit more thoughtful reasoning and dialogue in a city with so many universities.
