With a three-day snow/freezing rain storm looming (and who knows what else mother nature is brewing), it's no surprising news that the AGNS is still having problems with ground water. According to a press release: "The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia continues to work with the Department of Transportation, Infrastructure Renewal to address this issue and find the appropriate solution. Give the challenges with the ability to assure the soundness if the main exhibition space, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia has had to cancel the upcoming Lord Dalhousie exhibition from the National Gallery of Canada. This decision was made in consultation with the National Gallery of Canada after careful deliberation by the AGNS professional staff."
It's not so much flooding that is the issue, as it is humidity control. But all is not lost because there's an ironically named replacement exhibition titled Forces of Nature, on view from April 9 to May 31, 2009. As a fan of these video artists, I can't say that I'm too disappointed: Kelly Richardson, David Askevold, Katherine Knight and Emily Vey Duke + Cooper Battersby.
Also on at the AGNS, opening this weekend, is an exhibition of photos from one of Canada's most well-known conceptualists, Iain BAXTER&.
