Alive but sore

comment

To the editor,

Anger, fear, concern...that's how I feel when crossing the streets of Halifax.

Drivers have become out of control, mindlessly speeding down our streets thinking about everything else under the sun. Heck, half of them are listening to their music, which is so loud, or talking on a cellphone.

About a month ago, two of my closest friends were hit by a car on a marked crosswalk, where there was more than sufficient light. People treat Lacewood Drive as a racing strip and, as a result, my friends are happy to be alive. But not without injury: nine staples, torn ligaments, black eyes, bruises, a bone having to be replaced with a metal plate and nine pins. The saddest part is that this seems to be a regular occurrence in this city recently. If you can't be safe, stay off the road!
