The news that Armour Development Company is going to rip the heart out of the heritage of downtown Halifax by gutting many Water Street buildings is puzzling because they have been such good stewards for so many years.
The question is: why would they decide to deliver this body blow at this time?
I feel they realize the days are numbered before people in Halifax wake up and realize that most cities would kill to have such a collection in their core, and in fact, are scrambling to try and recreate the atmosphere they tore down years ago.
The Armour Company made much of their seed money off the people of Nova Scotia through government arrangements and it is not fair that they return the favour in this manner.
