Fall River was the site of one of the nastiest political battles of the HRM elections last October. In the end, challenger Barry Dalrymple just edged out incumbent Krista Snow.
By appearances so far, Dalrymple is considerably to the right of Snow; he stakes out old-school PC-type positions on most issues, and at council meetings seems to take cues from Streatch and Hendsbee, the councillors on his immediate right and left, both of whom are politically to the right of, say, Stockwell Day.
To his credit, Dalrymple has made the case for increased transit service to Fall River, or at least for not cutting existing service to that community.
But even his statements on transit don’t reflect any work on Dalrymple’s part to get those concerns addressed. He’s new to council, and some councillors take more time than others to learn what the game’s all about. So I’m sending Dalrymple to the special classroom in the basement for extra reading.
