When: Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. Continues through May 8 2010
Bedford Players caters to an audience that seems to prefer its theatre weightless but not witless. It’s rare to see a production there that couldn’t be categorized as a bedroom farce, and of course Alan Aykbourn’s Bedroom Farce is no exception. It’s the story of Trevor and Susannah, a couple on the brink of marital breakdown who wreak havoc on the people around them. It takes place over the course of one evening in three different bedrooms of three different couples: Trevor’s staid but loving parents, his former flame and her workaholic husband and a young(ish) couple whose party Trevor and Susannah ruin with a very funny physical fight. This is not the kind of stuff that will tax the brain or stimulate a lot of conversation, but there’s certainly nothing wrong with an evening of gentle laughter. (KW) With a matinee May 2 at 2pm.
