Gold Winner Ostrea Lake
Silver Winner Quiet Parade
Bronze Winner Andrew Frelick
Ostrea Lake makes the kind of music that make you want to lay on a dock, stare at the sky and think about every single one of your feelings, and decisions, and whether they’re the right ones. The Halifax band, which has perfectly dubbed itself as lullaby folk, has been quietly providing this kind of sonic soothing since 2012, taking inspiration from bandleader Elias Abi Daoud’s upbringing in Musquodoboit Harbour, on the band’s namesake Ostrea Lake Road. This weekend the band not only scores a big win the most peaceful of the Best of Halifax awards, but is vying for a Music Nova Scotia Award—Best New Artist Recording, for its Rippling Waters EP.
