Coast readers lost two of their favourite councillors this past election: gold winner Dawn Sloane, who lost to silver-winning Jennifer Watts, and bronze winner Sue Uteck, who lost out in a tight three-way race in the south end when upstart Waye Mason prevailed. Post-election, Sloane is laying low, not answering her phone or returning calls from pesky reporters. While disappointment is understandable, given the circumstances, we’d like to give her a shoutout: She’s long been loved by a big part of the community, and even people who voted for someone else this time around are telling us they’ll miss Sloane greatly.
