Best Councillor

Gold Winner Waye Mason

Silver Winner Mike Savage

Bronze Winner Jennifer Watts

“As much work as being a councillor is, I love doing this job and representing you,” says Mason at a council meeting break. Before his razor-thin election victory last year, Mason was best known as the former director of the Halifax Pop Explosion. “The Pop Explosion was crazy busy work for the length of the festival,” he says. “But being a councillor is like that every week.” Mason is quickly establishing himself as a policy wonk, putting forward initiatives that mostly go over the head of his fellow councillors, and pissing off the old boy network that has long dominated council.
