Gold Winner Art Gallery of Nova Scotia
Silver Winner Argyle Fine Art
Bronze Winner The Dart Gallery
After a banner visitor year following the release of the Maud Lewis biopic Maudie, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia has not rested on its movie-fuelled laurels. The usual interesting and innovative array of exhibitions has abounded since the AGNS’s 2017 win in this category, including: An exhibition of prints from Utagawa Hiroshige’s woodcuts; a show of young artists with autism; Shame and Prejudice: A Story of Resilience, Kent Monkman’s paintings, drawing and sculptural show in response to Canada 150; and an abecedary of Nova Scotia printmakers. The brightest and best, you might say.
