While music venues in Halifax drop off the map hither and yon with hardly a shrug, the day the Seahorse stage no longer features rock bands of note would precipitate widespread regional mourning. Which is why it’ll never happen. The stalwart watering hole, open since the late 1940s, has managed to maintain a solid clientele through generations and is currently known as a banging venue for rock ‘n’ roll, with renovations and redesigns in recent years improving both sightlines and acoustics in the basement bar. Let the place continue to rock another 60 years. ---CK
