Gold Winner Matt Mays
Silver Winner Rich Aucoin
Bronze Winner Stewart Legere
Matt Mays lost his friend and guitar player Jay Smith suddenly last March while the band was touring his latest album, Coyote. It was a huge blow to Mays---and the Atlantic Canadian music scene in general---who worked through his grief along with his band the best way they knew how: through music. “Two thousand thirteen was a very strange year. It was a tough year,” says Mays. “The support that I received from my hometown provided such a warm and bright light in a cold dark time. Thank you for that. Thank you for embracing my music and for letting it embrace you. I feel very lucky to have you all in my life.” Mays and his band perform live at the JUNO Awards in Winnipeg.
