For years Ghettosocks has been slaying the local hip-hop music scene with his mix of throwback beats and steady flow, but 2010 was the year the Halifax MC broke. With the release of *Treat of the Day,* Ghettosocks, aka Darren Pyper, showed his inner fatty by rapping about snacks and serving fresh beats heavily sampling 80's kids’ movie classics (*The Goonies, Gremlins*), creating a delicious concept album that resonated with die-hard fans and collegiate hipsters alike. With a recent showcase at SXSW and a Juno nomination for rap album of the year next to underground heavy weight Shad and mainstream juggernaut Drake, it's clear that Pyper's domination of the Canadian hip-hop scene won't be slowing down anytime soon. Look forward to the bespectacled MC's new project Twin Peaks, a rap group with fellow MC Muneshine, loosely inspired by the work of David Lynch.
