When Wendy Friedman is hunting for clothing and designers she wants to bring home to Halifax shoppers, she’s not usually thinking in terms of gender. “For me it’s not just about dressing men, it’s about dressing people who want to dress that way. We want to be a place for everybody, that’s why we call the upstairs part of the shop the Handsome Shop,” says Biscuit General Store’s owner. Right now, she’s super-excited about the stuff she’s bringing in from Dickies, Frank and Oak, Wemoto and Brixton, but she’s always looking out for something that resonates. “Even though I’ve owned the business for a long time, I want it to keep evolving and stretching.”
