Since 1993 the Halifax Pop Explosion has been a staple in the local music scene. Every October things get a little crazy as bands from Halifax, Canada and the world stop by to show off their stuff, and Haligonians are all too eager to show their appreciation. In 2010 the festival kicked more ass than usual, says executive director John Stevens. “HPX ruled because we decided to fully embrace the cheapo wristband model that has been successful at other events, giving incredible value to our fans,” Stevens says he looks forward to an even better festival upcoming, with more bands and venues. “HPX remains vital to the local scene because we listen to our scene and what they want, which in a way means we are owned by them.”
