“You know what is weird about Beauty and the Beast? You think it’s a kids story, but I cannot tell you the number of adults I saw sitting in that theatre cheering on when Beast transforms, or getting weepy,” says Ron Ulrich, director of the play and artistic director of Neptune Theatre. “It blows me away. I don’t know… it’s a story we all relate to.” Whatever magic they spun, it worked: Beauty and the Beast was the longest running and highest attended show in the 44 years of Neptune Theatre. “Sixteen weeks with that sucker,” says Ulrich.
First runner up: God's Middle Name
Second runner up: Law and Order: MVU
