Best Pop Artist / Band

Gold Winner Ria Mae

Silver Winner Port Cities

Bronze Winner Neon Dreams

Ria Mae’s pop prowess has garnered a gold record, a Juno nomination in a category with Drake and Justin Bieber and a never-ending tour schedule. (She’s currently heading cross-country with Scott Helman.) A new EP, My Love, drops November 3. And even though she hangs her black pants in Toronto now, Halifax remains devoted. “I’m so grateful, I have so much support from Halifax,” she says, choking up a little. “I’ve not been living here for a year and a half, so I thought, ‘Oh that’s gonna go away.’ But every time I come home I feel more and more supported. Other musicians in my position don’t have this. Most people hate their hometown. I feel so happy to have this supportive blanket.”
