Gold Winner Emily Lawrence
Silver Winner Jennifer Atkinson
Bronze Winner Sam'gwan the Artist
Fresh off a co-curatorial gig for this year’s Nocturne, the multi-disciplinary NSCAD grad steps straight into a win for Best Visual Artist. “This year, my focus has been on collaboration,” Emily Lawrence says, “and two projects that stand out as highlights were the photo shoot I did with One Block Barbershop and a group of fantastic models, as well as the Century Egg music video [“Ki Swui Kya”] I worked on as the production designer, directed by Chris and Susie Shapones.” Currently she’s an artist in residence at the MacPhee Centre for Creative Learning in Dartmouth. “It’s great to be a part of a really vibrant arts community,” she says, “and to be working alongside so many talented folks making amazing things and making things happen.”
