Best Yoga Instructor

Maxine Munro

“I love backbends,” says Maxine Munro, the yoga instructor you voted as best in Haligonia. Her favourite pose is the Fish Pose, or “Matsyasana,” where she lies on her back, pressing the crown of her head into the floor, which forces her back to arch. “It’s energizing, lets you tackle your day with enthusiasm and vitality.” Munro is certified as a professional-level interdisciplinary yoga teacher; she teaches a form of yoga based on a combination of Kripalu, Ashtanga and Lyengar. If you understand none of that, but still want to check out what all this downward dog business is about, drop in on a class to check it out. You’ll be glad you did. 6156 Quinpool, 429-3303

1st runner-up Jenny Keirstead, Breathing Space Yoga Studio, 1513 Birmingham, 449-4486

2nd runner-up Robert Webber, The Yoga Loft/Yoga with Robert, Suite 301, 5663 Cornwallis, 429-3330
