Boxing

Sport 6: It's easier than you think to get into the Canada Games fun.

For boxing, AKA the Canada Games tango, all you need is your fists.
For boxing, AKA the Canada Games tango, all you need is your fists.

If the cold, dark days of winter leave you feeling punchy, take your fists down to Palooka’s Boxing Club and ask for Tyson Cave. Cave is the head coach at Palooka’s and teaches over 200 classes a month. Classes range from beginner to advanced boxing and also include women’s boot camp, Muay Thai and jiu jitsu. Your first class is free and subsequent drop-in fees are $10. Different membership packages are also available, with the boxing package costing $66.25 per month (or less, depending on the number of months you buy). Palooka’s Fight Store is on site for all your gear needs, but, as Cave says, “all you need is your fists.” If you want to see the sport up close and personal before stepping into the ring yourself, head down to Palooka’s on January 29 and watch Cave compete in the WBC Intercontinental National Title Fight against former Olympian Nestor Bolum.
