Mary's Place Cafe I and II
The breakfast at Mary's is so good, they had to open a second location. Mary's Place offers all-day breakfast specials, including Middle Eastern breakfasts and vegan delights. My favourite: the 3X3. 2752 Robie Street and 5982 Spring Garden Road

The Ardmore Tearoom
Open since 1958, the Ardmore's milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard. The steak and eggs is a power breakfast of champs, and the service always comes with a smile. Go early for booth seats, cash only. 6499 Quinpool Road

The Coastal Cafe
OK: You can get Buffalo chicken on an English muffin or The Elvis (waffles with peanut butter and bacon) or bourbon brisket and eggs. LIKE, WHAT?! 2731 Robie Street

The Good Food Emporium
Vegan/vegetarian? The Emporium has you; covered: full breakfasts, fresh-baked bread, bottomless coffee, geometric art, the occasional dreadlock, whole food health focus with a new-age flair. 2186 Windsor Street

The Grawood
Live on or near Dal campus? The Grawood serves the Late Riser breakfast platter every day from 11:30am to 12:30pm for only $6.50, giving you enough time to get to Principles of Time Management. 6136 University Avenue

> Probably your favourite hometown spot, downtown Halifax's Cora's location is the fruitiest breakfast in town: smoothies, ripe everything and creative colourful freshness. Be prepared to wait a few minutes, though. 1535 Dresden Row

Cosy Snack Bar
The most down home old-style diner scores a hat-trick of a breakfast for under $7. This family of Habs fans (Canadiens merch everywhere!) has been in business pretty much since the Habs were founded. 6411 Liverpool Street

Hali Deli
This traditional old-world deli serves up the finest eastern European-style all-day breakfasts that Halifax has ever seen. Weekend specials like smoked meat Eggs Benny, kugel, fresh challah and knish: oy! 2389 Agricola Street
