Remarks: We’ve received a number of complaints about the Point Pleasant plaque, which is located near the large memorial anchor on the harbour side of the park. The plaque points out that Halifax has historically “played a key role in furthering the delivery of needed wartime materiel.” Well, it may be a curious spelling, but “materiel” isn’t a mistake. From the Canadian Oxford Dictionary: “materiel: available means or resources, esp. materials and equipment used in warfare.” You may now set your face to stunned.
