There is a serious sidewalk shortage in Bayers Lake.

There is a serious sidewalk shortage in Bayers Lake. Trying to navigate Bayers Lake on foot is impractical and occasionally life-threatening. But sidewalks seem like a reasonable expectation.

Remarks: Gord Gamble, president of the Bayers Lake Business Association, says the BLBA has requested that Bayers Lake sidewalks be considered in this year’s capital budget. Why weren’t sidewalks installed in the BLIP in the first place? “The original intention wasn’t to have the amount of retail space that we have there now,” says Gamble. “Costco and Home Depot really changed things. So, sidewalks have been more like an afterthought.”

Who's Responsible?: City council, which would need to commit cash towards such a zany project. (The councillor for Bayers Lake is Mary Wile. 490-7028.)
