Remarks: The wooden handrails on the bridge have rotted away, says Rideout. When they were taken down, cracks in the concrete were found and so now a full engineering study of the bridge has commenced. No Laval here, no siree. Tenders go out next week, and it’ll be up and running, er, sometime.

Who's Responsible?: Kevin Rideout, superintendent of construction services for transportation and public works for HRM, and winner of The Coast’s “longest job title” contest, 490-4821.
