Re: “FOIPOP expert slams Dexter government over IBM deal

When your taxes are being spent , there is good reason to be able to know who spent the money and on what . If you do not have an open purchasing system that tells you what the bids were and what was the successful bid, you are only helping the bureaucracy hide their decisions . It is quite easy to protect a contractors critical private information while still having the bids made public. Make the rules , stick to the rules. But also note, there are no numbers to tell you what is being spent where they just go and hire one contractor , no bidding , as it seems there is in tourism marketing and inspections . There is no one watching to know when money is spent and the bidding system was not followed. How can you justify giving a contractor over $ 100,000 -300,000 of business without a bid ?? The marketing levy tax system does just that .
