To the editor,
I was excited to see the big, fancy, flag-waving car pulling up half in front of my house and half in front of the church next door February 1. “Wheeeee,” I said to myself as lieutenant governor Mayann Francis was escorted from the car and disappeared behind the walls of the house of god.
I then had the distinct pleasure of watching her driver sit in the idling car while she attended a church service! For more than half an hour, exhaust billowed from the expensive beast.
My first thought was that maybe lieutenant governors get cold very easily and she might need a nice warm car to get into when they leave churches, but I realized she had a proper winter coat and hat. Maybe she neglected to wear proper boots?
Alternatively, the ferry is a short jaunt from her humongous residence and a mere five-minute walk uphill in Dartmouth to reach the church she graciously visited.
Please stop idling away our future, your excellency!
