Caribou
The Milk of Human Kindness
(Domino)
Just so you know, Caribou is Manitoba’s new name. It seems that the very lame frontman for punk band The Dictators, Handsome Dick Manitoba, sued Dan Snaith (formerly Manitoba) for trademark infringement. This is Snaith’s first full-length recording under the new alias and it does not disappoint; sweet beats, tweets, twinkles, buzzes and all the pop hooks reminiscent of his last effort--Up In Flames. This new album is an inspired electronic exploration and celebration of ’60s psychedelia and swamp rock. As he did at last year's Atlantic Jazz Festival--one of Halifax’s best live concerts ever (all respects, Guided By Voices and Arcade Fire)--Snaith once again takes us on a fantastic musical journey with this offering.
