Directed by: Trey Parker and Matt Stone

If your diet’s fibre-friendly, and you like your holidays treacle-free, it’s time to get your George-Bailey-weary mitts on the new South Park collection, Christmas Time in South Park. The compilation brings together seven of South Park’s stellar Christmas episodes---five of them featuring everyone’s favorite piece of Santa-hat-wearing fecal matter, Mr. Hankey, the Christmas Poo. For 11 glorious seasons, South Park brain trust Matt Stone and Trey Parker have been bringing us the holiday-special goods, and they don’t disappoint here---all the episodes on this set are unsentimental and awesome. It’s also neat to see Parker and Stone give a tongue-in-cheek nod to their own past work: in one episode, the South Park lads make a video Christmas card that bears a striking resemblance to Parker and Stone’s own “The Spirit of Christmas,” a video card featuring an epic battle between Santa and Jesus which helped Parker and Stone land the deal to make South Park in the first place. Other episodes feature poor, misunderstood prison escapee Charlie Manson, some cheery Satan-worshipping woodland critters and Gary, the only dick in Canada. But, while the disc is packing a heckuva lot of irreverent Christmas content, it’s sadly lacking in bonus features. The episodes on this disc are all essential Christmas viewing---this set just might not be the best place to view ’em.
