The Centre's latest LAIR (that's Local Artist In Residence), Gillian Maradyn-Jowsey, is a designer and ceramic artist. Her work is "invigorated by meaningful creative exchange and collaboration," and she crafts functional, sculptural pieces made for everyday living in an art-filled life. "My multi-disciplinary ceramic-based art practice curiously resides at the intersection between whimsical contours and crisp design. It fuses the formal concerns of mid century modern design and architecture with the slumpy eclecticism of DIY craft culture. My process is fuelled by my delight for exploring materials and foraging for pattern, texture, and colour," her artist's statement adds.
