When my brother who is a person with a mental illness, was facing eviction and living on the streets of Montreal, it was fortunate that family members were able to help him move to the Halifax area and find a small apartment that was accessible to the shops and services he needed. I personally witnessed how vital it is to have a roof over your head when facing poverty and mental illness. The 'housing first' philosophy is right and I believe that this is the way to go to help the homeless.
